MINISTRIES

Youth Ministry: Sis. Shandy Strapp, Youth Ministry Director,

                     Sis. Jacquie Acevedo, YPD Director

The Children’s Ministry includes all things involving the youth of the church.  GSP cherishes our youth. We seek to incorporate youth in the life of the church. Youth day worship service is scheduled for the 4th Sundays where the youth serve in the worship service. For the remainder of the month, the youth attend Children’s Church instead of adult worship. There, they learn the precepts of Christianity through play, short lessons, while using a variety of media.

The youth are also a part of the Young People’s Division, a subdivision of the Women’s Missionary Society. Through this organization the youth participate in community service activities and learn valuable leadership skills and Christian character. The Youth, of all ages, are welcomed to join GSP in attendance at the annual Church School Convention, usually a three-day convention. The older youth (ages 13 and up) are encouraged to attend the annual Christian Education Leadership Congress held in Orlando, Fl, also usually a three-day event.

Young Adult Ministry (RAYAC): Bro. Joshua Harris, President

Richard Allen Young Adult Council (RAYAC) is a group for young adults between the ages of 21-35. The goal of the RAYAC is to retain young adults to the Lord, the church, and to lead young adults to use their gifts and talents in the service of the Lord.

Bible Discovery Hour: Min. Jimmy Rogers, Superintendent (Aka Sunday School)

Bible Discovery Hour takes place each Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. These lessons help promote personal bible study. The curriculum is current and relevant to everyday life. And it also gives the laity (members) the opportunity to facilitate the classes. We have classes available for both adults and youth.

         Media Ministry: Sis. Michaela Kendricks

                                    Bro. Maurice Boyd

                                    Bro. Peter McCurdy

The media ministry is a support service for the pastor, the music ministry and the church members. The Media Team is composed of two primary areas: sound and visuals. The purpose of the GSP Media Ministry is to carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our visually driven, ever changing world using technology and media. The use of media in ministry is the vehicle for effectively communicating and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We do this with in-house production to enhance the worship service and livestreaming to the world. We can always use volunteers for the media ministry.

The Stewardess Board: Sis. Corrine Odom, President

The Stewardess Board is a spiritual service to the church, performed by women. While performing the various preparations, hymns are often sung and prayers lifted to the Lord. Their service is to assist the laity when they approach the altar and to prepare the Elements for the services of Holy Communion, and Holy Baptism. To assist with special services such as weddings, funerals, or candlelight services as requested. To care for the Altar and the space in the Sanctuary which is enclosed within the Chancel area and to care for and change the paraments to the proper seasonal color; linens, and all items associated with worship and special services as needed.

The Hospitality Ministry: Sis. Kathy Harris, Coordinator

                                                   Sis. Connie Coleman, Greeters Coordinator

The mission of the hospitality ministry is to provide a welcoming environment of love, acceptance, comfort, support, care, and unity for visitors, members, guests, and friends to enhance their worship experience, encourage fellowship, and help build a community of believers. GSP’s hospitality is in place from the parking lot to guest and member follow-up.

“Matter’s of the Heart” A Woman’s Discussion Group:

       Rev. Sharon Monsanto, Facilitator

This ministry meets monthly on the last Friday of the month in person or via zoom.

The purpose is for fellowship and to discuss matters of the heart as they relate to women.

Outreach Ministry: Licentiate Jane Jackson, Coordinator

This is an evangelism by outreach ministry where a group of volunteers go out into the community to witness and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. As well as make visitations to those in rehab, nursing homes, the unhoused and those who are sick and shut in. Ministry in and of itself is to meet the needs of others. The Outreach Ministry seeks to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and to meet needs that will bring relief.

Member Teams (Formally known as classes or cells)

Every member of GSP is assigned to a team. Teams act as small church groups who stay in touch with their Team Leader. They participate in fellowship outings and work together on team projects. Each team is assigned a team leader. The Team Leader communicates regularly with the team members to insure that their needs are being met by the church and the pastor.

Koinonia Caring Ministry

*This ministry is for Members Only.

Koinonia is a Greek word translated in our bible to mean, "Fellowship", but it's more than that. It's an intimate spiritual communion and sharing within a spiritual community. It's "Loving" one another by meeting needs and offering encouragement and support.  Your membership at GSP is an agreement to have koinonia with one another. 1 Timothy 5:8 says in essence that charity begins at home. If you are experiencing a hardship or struggle, please make your church family aware. We are your safe space.  Please complete the Koinonia Caring Form online or pick up from reception.
